Access Statement for 325 Aigburth Road in Liverpool
The interior of the building is on three different levels, this was the existing structure of the building, and it was not feasible to change this.
Wheelchair access to the upstairs level was not attainable due to the existing structure. There is wheelchair access to the room on the lower level, however there is no wheelchair access to the toilet. We have a list of wheelchair friendly counselling services nearby to refer on to if needed and we can offer sessions on Zoom if preferred.
There are visual aids denoting the edges of steps and stairs.
There is a lowered curb on the corner of Aigburth Road and Kildonan Road and on the corner of Aigburth Road and Lisburn Road.
There is a bus stop right outside (route 82).
There is plenty of on street parking available, including right in front of the building on Aigburth Road as well as in the surrounding side streets.
There are smoke alarms fitted in each room, as well as the hall and cellar. There is a smoke alarm with strobe lighting in the toilet.
The front door is an emergency exit and there is an emergency exit to the rear. There are signs outside each room denoting where the nearest emergency exit is.
In case of a fire alarm, the fire assembly point is by the alley gate between numbers 2 and 4 Kildonan Road.
The smoke alarm will sound if evacuation is needed, and emergency lights will be illuminated.
The rooms that have no outside windows are fitted with mechanical ventilation.
Any documents can be requested in large print by prior arrangement.
Assistance from your car or the bus stop to the building can be requested.
The front door opening is 90 cm wide.
The room door openings are 90 cm wide.
The staircase steps are at least 90 cm wide. There are 5 steps with a height of 18-20 cm. There are two quarter turns. The stairs have a continuous handrail on the left side and a banister at the top on the right.
The toilet door opening was already existing and is 78 cm wide, it was not feasible to change this. There is a support rail in the toilet and a baby changing unit.
There is a raised step to the toilet with visual aids denoting the nose of the step.
Breastfeeding is supported anywhere in the building.
There is a waiting area with seating.
There is a portable induction hearing loop system available on request.
